The United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Philippines), in partnership with two non-government organizations, namely the Private Sector Mobilization (PRISM) and the Baguio Center for Young Adults (BCYA) last week awarded the University of the Cordilleras a family health recognition award for outstanding performance in the sustainability of its family health programs.
In a recognition ceremony held at the Prince Plaza Hotel on March 7, UC was cited along with the Baguio City National High School Employees Association for its delivery of family health services, while business outsourcing giant Sitel was awarded the family health excellence award.
The University was also recognized as a project partner company, along with Adrieste Philippines, AMA Computer College, Baguio Country Club, BCNHS Employees, Easter Colleges, Noble Trends Unbound, PCNHS Employees, Sitel, and STI Computer College.
Raizulli Nolasco, UC human resource development director, said the award recognizes the continuing thrust of the school since 1982 to sustain family health programs within the school, among students, faculty and personnel.
He said if employees have a healthy and well-planned family, their welfare and the lives of those around them will improve, thus leading to the benefit of the school itself.
Guidelines issued by the HRD to implement family health programs include education campaigns to aid the free choice of employees, distribution of posters and pamphlets through the school’s medical clinic and guidance center, establishment of a pool of accredited and reliable partner-institutions.
One-on-one consultations, installment methods for medical expenses, and coverage of spouses and children of employees also form part of the University’s health services.
